Foiled Shellac

I volunteered to be a coworker's hair model for the salon hair book, so she colored me, trimmed it and gave me a cool new style - while I was waiting for the color to process, I did my nails "edgy" to match her theme for the photo shoot.

This is Shellac Red Baroness, with black then silver transfer foil, and Shellac Millionaire.  I love it!  What do you think?

Care For Some Vino?

Wine themed nails!  These were all in a magazine I was flipping through, so I thought I'd give them a try.

There actually is a glass around the wine in the second nail, but it's in white, and I couldn't get a visible shot of it on the nude background!

For the French:  OPI, So Many Clowns So Little Time, Kyoto Pearl, Honk If You Love OPI, (glitter and rhinestones) Seche Vite Top Coat.
For the bottle: OPI Heart Throb, Honk If You Love OPI, Got The Blues For Red, Jade Is The New Red, San Tan-Tonio, Black Onyx, Essie Blanc, Seche Vite Top Coat.
For the grapes:  OPI San Tan-Tonio, Jade Is The New Red, Honk If You Love OPI, Got The Blues For Red, Seche Vite Top Coat.
For the glass:  OPI Kyoto Pearl, Jade Is The New Red, Black Onyx, Got The Blues For Red, Honk If You Love OPI, Seche Vite Top Coat.

I like to think of thoughts as living blossoms borne by the human tree.

Two nights ago I decided to go out at the last minute, and I realized I'd just removed my toenail polish!  I can't go out with bare toes (even if my shoes were close-toed), so I quickly whipped on OPI DS Temptation and went without a top coat.

Today, I added cherry blossoms with Honk If You Love OPI and Steady As She Rose.  Orly Rubberized Base Coat and 3-in-1 Top Coat.
(Like the texture on the background?  It's the dashboard of my Lover's car, cos this was another hurried set.)

If I be worthy, I live for my God to teach the heathen, even though they may despise me.

Here is my St. Patrick's Day mani.  I wasn't able to post it yesterday because I worked at the spa until 6, then went immediately out to do promotions for Jameson Whiskey until midnight...  It was a long day!

Several similar designs as I did on my client, with the green and glitter french.  I used CND Base and Top Coat, Orly Pretty Edgy, OPI Fresh Frog Of Bel Air, Black Onyx, Urban Outfitters unnamed gold, MK 24 Karat.  The rainbow was a variety of Essie and Orly polishes I used at work; I don't have the names and don't own them.  Topped with OPI Gel Color Top Coat to make them last through 13 hours of work.

We are the yin and the yang of the creative process.

A (relatively) quick and simple mani.  I tried to make the rainbow zebra last a few more days, but ended up ruining it at work.  :(  I purposely put more white than black because my nails were pretty stained from the rainbow, so I wanted to keep it light(ish) while they grow out a bit.

I used Orly Rubberized Base Coat, 3-in-1 Top Coat, Pointe Blanche, OPI Black Onyx, Save Me.
On my right ring finger you can see where the black smudged onto my topcoat brush and stained a bit...  Also, a lot of bubbles in these last few sets.  My top is getting old and low, so I have to dip several times to cover a nail, which appears to be the issue.  (Yes, I have another, but I feel wasteful if I throw it out too soon!)

DS Temptation and DS Bold

I know, it's not really nail art.  I bought Temptation on a whim (I mean, more of a whim than the rest of the colors I buy) because I just adored it in the bottle.  I was so glittery and gorgeous!  I went back and saw Bold advertised together, so picked that up too.  I finally wore them yesterday.

Sadly, this started chipping today, and I proceeded to help it along until it was completely gone.  I bet it's a great toe color though!

Orly Rubberized Base Coat and 3-in-1 Top Coat, OPI DS Bold and DS Temptation.

Another French

Sister wanted a colored French too...

I used Orly Rubberized Base and 3-in-1 Top Coat, OPI Meet Me On The Star Ferry, Hawaiian Orchid, Peru-B-Ruby.

Meep-Meep-Meep and Gone Gonzo

Another sister manicure, with more glittery brights!

Orly Base and Top, OPI Meep-Meep-Meep and Gone Gonzo (accent nail).

Ring In The Red and Divine Swine

No nail art...  Just polish on my sister, again.  But some new colors to see!  Two coats of Ring In The Red all over, except the accent nail, which has just one, and the second coat of Divine Swine.

China Glaze Ring In The Red, OPI Divine Swine, Orly Base and Top Coat.

DS Extravagance and DS Bold

Sister needs a manicure just about every day now, so I have some more polish to show off!  She loves the bright glittery ones.

OPI DS Extravagance (accent nail tip) and DS Bold , Orly Base and Topcoat.

Twinkling Glitter and Icicle - French

Hands again!  This is the better French I mentioned in the last post - I just adore these colors together!  I almost did this again for my date, but I buy so much polish I felt like I had to use some new ones.

China Glaze Icicle, Venique Twinkling Glitter, Orly Topcoat.  I don't base coat my French manicures, even at work...  is that bad?

Saturday, January 21, 2012

I took up French boys and wine and I studied psychology.

A glitzy French manicure for a date.  ;)  I like the colors together, but alas, I ruined it at work today - even wore gloves for every service!  Don't mind the dry skin around my nails, it's all that acetone.  And I even moisturized just before the photo was taken...

Next I'll show you a similar French mani with different (better!) colors.  I absolutely adored it!

China Glaze Tinsel Town and Snow Globe.  Orly 3-in-1 Topcoat.

At Christmas play and make good cheer, for Christmas comes but once a year.

candy cane, nail art, toes, Christmas, holly, gift, present

My sister informed me tonight that I need to get someone else to take the pictures....  As if I didn't know! The ones my five year old daughter took are better than mine.  :-/  Next to my baby toe we have holly or mistletoe, then a gift/bow, a white tree, a snowman, and candy canes.  The rest were mixing and testing new colors.

I used Lippman Collection Hydrating Base Coat and On A Clear Day Topcoat, Fingerpaints Scenery Greenery, Sally Hansen Cherry Red, OPI Black Onyx, China Glaze Velvet Bow and Ring in The Red, Orly French Tip, Venique Twinkling Glitter.

Tips - Decals

For your viewing pleasure, since I'm not going to redo my Starry Skies manicure until Monday, I bring you a collection of tips that I did in beauty school.  Admittedly, this set of tips were when I was feeling lazy, tired, cranky, or uninspired...
But anyway:
nail me, nail art, anna, tips

Again, I don't remember most of these polishes, but the first (top left) one I polished red, then when it was still tacky dipped it in gold glitter shreds, the second I applied tiny gems in a spiral, the third I applied little heart confetti as a french tip, the fourth has the same tiny gems as the second, the fifth is MaryKay 24K (which I can't find anymore) with decals, the sixth is another spiral with hexagon confetti, the seventh (bottom left) has the heart confetti, the eighth has flower/star confetti, the ninth was dipped in a fine glitter for a french tip, the tenth and eleventh have the hexagon confetti, the twelfth has the flower/star confetti.
